We have collected and created a variety of resources to help early childhood professionals manage and maintain efficient, effective, and profitable child care businesses. The Build It Strong book shares policy ideas and impacts as well as sample policies to help program leaders make well-informed business decisions.

Tax Credit for Employee Child Care

For 20 years, the federal government has offered a tax credit to encourage businesses to offer child care benefits to their employees. The Employer-Provided Child Care Facilities and Services credit allows businesses to receive a valuable tax credit of 25% of related child care expenses and 10% of their resource and referral expenses, up to a total of $150,000. Policies to Protect Cash Flow

It’s one thing to have sound policies. It’s another to ensure the policies you have protect your cash flow! By collecting every dollar on time, you help ensure your program has the cash on hand it needs to meet its financial obligations, including monthly bills, needed purchases, and services. Sometimes, large bills come due once or twice a year, so be sure to set aside the amounts needed each month in savings to prepare for those large expenditures. Check your handbook against this list of policies to see if you are as covered as you could be.
